Blue Jays – This Picture Says it All
(Photo by Ted S. Warren / Associated Press)
I am extremely disappointed in the handling of Halladay's trade situation. The above picture says it all. All the publicity and negativity is taking a toll on Halladay and the 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners shows how he was not at his best (albeit the offense was impotent as well). How is the man going to concentrate with worries of trade talk and an uncertain future inundating him 24/7? The Jays' PR campaign of demonizing Roy with J.P. Ricciardi saying Roy wants out is totally unfair. Halladay has served the Jays well and this is what he gets?
Halladay wants to win. He was promised back in 2008 that the Jays will make it. That didn't happen. And with several underperforming players due pay increases and with a shrinking Jays payroll, the Jays are handcuffed financially well into the future because of poor management decisions. I don't blame Halladay if he chooses to leave the organization come 2010. J.P.'s unprofessional handling of the situation and his terrible word choice in front of the media circus he instigated is enough reason to escape this poorly-managed organization.
I can only pray Wells and Rios are going to be done taking their "gap year", our pitching staff makes a swift recovery, and come 2010, the Jays do make it to the post-season... (ha!) Cause the reality is right now, we are 13.5 games back (as of today) in the AL East. And it does not look like we can pull off a "2007 Colorado Rockies" comeback.
Entourage Season 6 Episode 3: One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car
Keep it coming! Keep it coming. I'm liking this season so far.
50 Cent makes a cameo appearance in the episode. Turtle decides to finally become his own man and stop mooching off Vince. And the scene of Ari meeting Turtle and teaching Turtle the life lesson of "paying your dues", getting an education, and working hard was Ari being his usual awesome self. Indeed, working through college and grad school is exactly what Turtle needs to do if he wants to step out of Vince's shadow.
Poor Charlie (Bow Wow) but that scene with Ari Gold telling E to play the race card was hilarious. With the recent incidents of Obama, Sharpton, Michael Vick and Michael Jackson, this show was making fun of that fact of how absurd it is to raise alarms about racism these days and how successfully playing the race card is becoming more recognized as a form of "reverse racism." (Though some argue that the coining of this new term is of itself racist.)
My favourite scene in this episode:
*E storms into the Amy Miller's office with "Suicide" by Ghost Rider playing in the background*
E: Just want you guys to know that what you are doing is disgusting. Charlie busted his ass for you and you guys are going to toss him off because what? 40 idiots from Modesto, who have nothing better to do today than to watch a pilot in order to get a free lunch, claim they didn't like him? I liked him! That's why I signed him! And you liked him! That's why you cast him! You were right; don't doubt yourself now! Charlie Williams is this network's next superstar.
Amy Miller: Do you really believe that?
E: Yeah, I do.
Amy Miller: Well I'm sorry, we don't. There is no way Charlie Williams is going to be acing in this show.
E: Well then, maybe you're a racist.
*Awkward silence and Miller's stunned face.*
*Cut to Ari Gold laughing hysterically on the phone with E.*
The whole time, E was clearly showing that he wasn't serious about his stance and I was laughing at how obvious he's BSing. But it was nice to see E make a stand for himself and his client. E is also stepping out of Vince's shadow and it's nice seeing his character break Hollywood conventions of the "successful businessman" (Kevin Connolly, who plays E, is 5'5").
And get out Ashley! Bring back Sloan!
The song at the end credits is relatively unknown, "Can't Keep no Good Boy Down" by Parlor Mob. The song at Turtle's birthday is "Everybody Loves Me" by One Republic, which is interesting to note because it's an unreleased song and they are releasing their second studio album soon.
Song of the Week #48: The Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling

The songs that really stick with me are those that have memories behind it. I first heard this song in passing at a birthday party and it didn't stick then cause I wasn't really paying attention. But I listened again and paid close attention to the lyrics and the beat. This song evokes nothing but positive memories of the past and an optimistic future.
I look forward to the time I am free once more from the institutional barriers, free and confident to let loose, and no longer self-conscious of Asian glow (and find some miraculous way of eliminating it altogether - blasted ALDH2-deficiency and increased cancer risk!). I hope to recover from years of poor mental and physical health and last past 1 AM once more.
In regards to the past, I'll just say it brings me back to the fun times in New Orleans and of other good nights long past I shan't share here.
"this song is dedicated to everyone who is getting ready to go out...
its the song to listen to when you drive to the club or party...
its the song to listen to after a long day or week at work...
its the song to that makes me wanna throw my stress away...
the song to listen to when you're about to spark up..."

P.S. This song is VERY remix-worthy. Remixers are going to have a field day with this one!

This is Why I Do My Own PC Repairs
From Engadget:
"Sure, it seems like a no-brainer, but when Sky News in the UK dropped a brand new laptop off at several repair shops in London (equipped with a key logger and sneaky video recording software) they caught employees accessing personal data, hacking accounts for banking and social networking sites, and charging for unnecessary work. Who would've thunk it, right? For their next report, the news team is going to investigate whether or not the iPozh is actually manufactured by Apple."
Update: Now with video!
Another reason why I don't trust retail repair services. And if I must go to someone else, I only go through manufacturer's warranty and after I get all my important data off.
40 Years Later
Apollo 11 landed on the moon and humankind took its "giant leap" on this day 40 years ago. Humanity has come a long way in technological advancement.
Next stop, Mars!
Though I still at times wonder if we can make it that far. The threat of nuclear annihilation is currently growing and we fight amongst ourselves rather than looking to the stars. Much of the interest and allure of space exploration has faded in the general public.
I think more and more we need "first contact" to happen because only by knowing we are not alone can humanity be united as one.
On a side note, today would also have been Billy Mays' 51st birthday. R.I.P. The man can sell you anything ... and throw in another for FREE!
Michael Vick Released
So he gets out today. He has paid his dues and has suffered enough in terms of career, emotion, and family. Thus, in my opinion, all those haters should stop hating on him.
I mean, I think it would be awesome for him to have his shot at redemption and write the story of the greatest comeback ever in sports history. Such stories of fallen stars have inspired many. But it is his decision and the decision of the NFL.
We forgive not to condone the crimes committed but to stop the cycle of hatred and move on. The dogs are dead for 2 years now and they are not coming back. But right now, a human life fights to earn his freedom and reintegration back into society. Depriving him to a life of poverty (he has long since accumulated a substantial amount of financial debt) is uncivilized.
I mean - we'll be setting a double standard by dogging on him when other NFL players have killed other humans (DUI's and say... murder!?) and are still allowed to play.
All those PETA bandwagoners want Vick's head scanned for "violence" or even his head on a platter. Remember, PETA jumped on President Obama for swatting a fly. And their ad campaign seems to respect animals more than women. So maybe it's not Vick's head that needs to be checked.
And to all those red herrings playing the race card, it's totally ignorant and irrelevant in this day and age - this video does a good job of satiring the issue:
P.S. Pun unintended.
The Song in Entourage Season 6 Episode 2: Buzzcocks – Why Can’t I Touch It
Ari Gold: Andrew, you have been given a once in lifetime opportunity to take your lifestyle and your career to the next level. You throw it away on some 22-year-old, you're going to be left with nothing but herpes.
Andrew Klein: She's 26.
Ari Gold: Oh, Jesus Christ! Get it together. Quickly.
*Ari leaves meeting room*
Ari Gold: Twenty pounds, Lloyd!
---
The song at the end credits is Buzzcocks - Why Can't I Touch It from their 1979 album, A Different Kind of Tension. I can't put the MP3 up or I'll risk getting in trouble (of the legal kind). So here's a Youtube video to it:
Well it seems so real I can see it
And it seems so real I can feel it
And it seems so real I can taste it
And it seems so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Then it looks so real I can see it
And it feels so real I can feel it
And it tastes so real I can taste it
And it sounds so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Then it looks so real I can feel it
And it feels so real I can taste it
And it tastes so real I can hear it
And it sounds so real I can see it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Now it is so real I can see it
And it is so real I can feel it
And it is so real I can hear it
And it is so real I can be it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Upcoming Film: The Hurt Locker
I really want to see this film after seeing the trailer on Apple's website. It's been a long time since we've had a good action-packed war epic. Shot in Jordan, the film captures the new face of war today.
"Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb." -Film synopsis from imdb.com
Indeed, the "enemy" today isn't so clearly defined anymore when anyone can be called a "terrorist" or "suicide bomber", appear out of civilian crowds, and any object can be a bomb.
Interesting trivia: If Armond White gives this film a positive review, it must be that good. If you don't know who this guy is, look him up on Rotten Tomatoes. He gives 90%+ movies rotten reviews and often gives terrible movies fresh reviews. He is a contrarian; it's rare to see this guy agree with the meter for a legitimately good movie. Case in point: Star Trek vs. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Song of the Week #47: Eminem – Beautiful
This song is like the story of my life in so many ways, it's freaky. Many of the issues I have put behind me but many still linger. I figure this song can form the basis of my biographical "About" page. I'll write it later and if I'm still not comfortable about posting it for the world to see, then I guess I'm not yet ready, grasshoppa'. Regardless, everyone has their problems so I'm not going to whine about them here.
As usual, the song can be heard in the music player above.
Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has their private world
Where they can be alone
Are you calling me?
Are you trying to get through?
Are you reaching out for me?
I'm reaching out for you
I'm just so fucking depressed
I just can't seem to get out this slump
If I could just get over this hump
But I need something to pull me out this dump
I took my bruises, took my lumps
Fell down and I got right back up
But I need that spark to get psyched back up
And in order for me to pick the mic back up
I don't know how or why or when
I ended up this position I'm in
I'm starting to feel dissin' again
So I decided just to pick this pen
Up and try to make an attempt to vent
But I just can't admit
Or come to grips with the fact that I may be done with rap
I need a new outlet
And I know some shit's so hard to swallow
But I can't just sit back and wallow
In my own sorrow but I know one fact
I'll be one tough act to follow
One tough act to follow
I'll be one tough act to follow
Here today, gone tomorrow
But you'd have to walk a thousand miles
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like
To feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others' minds
Just to see what we'd find
Look at shit through each others' eyes
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked, just stay true to you
So don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked, just stay true to you
I think I'm starting to lose my sense of humor
Everything's so tense and gloom
I almost feel like I gotta check
The temperature of the room
Just as soon as I walk in, it's like all eyes on me
And so I try to avoid any eye contact
'Cause if I do that then it opens the door
For conversation, like I want that
I'm not looking for extra attention
I just wanna be just like you
Blend in with the rest of the room
Maybe just point me to the closest restroom
I don't need no fucking man servant
Trying to follow me around and wipe my ass
Laugh at every single joke I crack
And half of 'em ain't even funny like
Ha! Marshall you're so funny man
You should be a comedian, god damn!
Unfortunately I am
I just hide behind the tears of a clown
So why don't you all sit down
Listen to the tale I'm about to tell
Hell, we don't gotta trade our shoes
And you ain't gotta walk no thousand miles
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like
To feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others minds
Just to see what we'd find
Look at shit through each others eyes
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked, just stay true to you
So don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked, just stay true to you
Nobody asked for life to deal us
With these bullshit hands we're dealt
We gotta take these cards ourselves
And flip 'em, don't expect no help
Now I could've either just sat on my ass
And pissed and moaned
Or take this situation in which I'm placed in
And get up and get my own
I was never the type of kid
To wait by the door and pack his bags
I sat on the porch and hoped and prayed
For a dad to show up who never did
I just wanted to fit in
Every single place, every school I went
I dreamed of being that cool kid
Even if it meant acting stupid
And Edna always told me
Keep making that face and it'll get stuck like that
Meanwhile I'm just standing there
Holding my tongue tryna talk like that
'Til I stuck my tongue on that frozen stop sign pole
At 8 years old
I learned my lesson then
'Cause I wasn't trying to impress my friends no more
But I already told you my whole life story
Not just based on my description
'Cause where you see it, from where you're sittin
It's probably 110% different
I guess we would have to walk a mile
In each others shoes at least
What size you wear? I wear 10's
Let's see if you can fit your feet
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like
To feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others minds
Just to see what we'd find
Look at shit through each others eyes
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked just stay true to you
So don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked just stay true to you
So don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked just stay true to you
So
Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has their private world
Where they can be alone
Are you calling me?
Are you trying to get through?
Are you reaching out for me?
I'm reaching out for you
Yeah, to my babies
Stay strong, daddy will be home soon
And to the rest of the world
God gave you shoes to fit you
So put 'em on and wear 'em
Be yourself man, be proud of who you are
Even if it sounds corny
Don't ever let anyone tell you you ain't beautiful
