Joke Intro for a Joke Team
Am I right? Shared from my little brother, this is an actual intro for a college hockey team.
Yeah. So random. Random awesomeness. 5 stars for Top Gun music and cosmic laser space bears and explosions.
This team is SERIOUS BUSINESS. Oh, look for the older years as well. Those intros are just as awesome.

Blue Jays – This Picture Says it All
(Photo by Ted S. Warren / Associated Press)
I am extremely disappointed in the handling of Halladay's trade situation. The above picture says it all. All the publicity and negativity is taking a toll on Halladay and the 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners shows how he was not at his best (albeit the offense was impotent as well). How is the man going to concentrate with worries of trade talk and an uncertain future inundating him 24/7? The Jays' PR campaign of demonizing Roy with J.P. Ricciardi saying Roy wants out is totally unfair. Halladay has served the Jays well and this is what he gets?
Halladay wants to win. He was promised back in 2008 that the Jays will make it. That didn't happen. And with several underperforming players due pay increases and with a shrinking Jays payroll, the Jays are handcuffed financially well into the future because of poor management decisions. I don't blame Halladay if he chooses to leave the organization come 2010. J.P.'s unprofessional handling of the situation and his terrible word choice in front of the media circus he instigated is enough reason to escape this poorly-managed organization.
I can only pray Wells and Rios are going to be done taking their "gap year", our pitching staff makes a swift recovery, and come 2010, the Jays do make it to the post-season... (ha!) Cause the reality is right now, we are 13.5 games back (as of today) in the AL East. And it does not look like we can pull off a "2007 Colorado Rockies" comeback.
Fixed Some Bugs
There were some bugs and foolish mistakes left unseen by me on the site and I went ahead and fixed them. Comments should be working properly. So should the wall ('cept it still brings you to a separate page with weird formatting after posting a comment). The links page should be fixed.
In my attempts to secure the website further, I accidentally introduced some bugs. Now, my site should be secure against the typical script-kiddies, noob hackers, and typical bots. I obviously won't say what I did.
It's funny how many people land on my site looking for the "Andrew Chow" they know. Or those looking for random song lyrics.
I don't know how serious I want to take this site but if traffic keeps growing, it might just be worthwhile to put some Adsense or what-not to make some money on the side. Pfft.
---
Blue Jays continue to disappoint (see today's game as an example). J.P. says he's open to taking offers for Halladay though it doesn't mean he'll accept any. If J.P. wants to keep his job, he'll do his best to keep Halladay or the trade for him better be damn good for the team. Wells' overvalued contract is already his fault.
But Halladay says he wants to win and play in the World Series (duh) and come 2010, if the Blue Jays don't turn around that season, he'll leave no matter what the Jays organization offers him. He'll most likely will go to the Yankees or BoSox or whoever can afford his current market value.
MLB needs a salary cap. Not only because the same teams are reaching the playoffs (though some argue there's been enough variation) but because the richer teams are essentially using the poorer teams as "farms". The poor teams develop the players to stardom and they leave for bigger paychecks while the poor teams are compensated with lame 1st-round draft picks.
Meh, the players' union will fight tooth and nail to prevent such a cap from happening. And I guess one could argue that teams are "poor" because of the fans (and lack thereof). It's hard not to see the contrast between sellout crowds in New York and Boston vs. Toronto.
Urgency
Without a sense of urgency, I can't seem to be motivated to go "above and beyond" and just do the bare minimum. Though, my "bare minimum" is set pretty high based on what I achieve with so little effort, I can't help but feel guilty at the wasted potential. I know I got it in me but I fall prey too easily on matters that shouldn't matter in the now.
I'm taking a summer course and with my current plans, it's only required of me to just pass. Without the stress of having to attain a high mark, I just find no justification in slaving myself in cubicles and what not in the summer - and that is a good thing since I've been heading home almost every weekend to spend time with friends and family. However, anatomy is something that I will take with me later in life and I must do my best not to "binge and purge" this knowledge.
But I guess I'm just prioritizing because there's something coming up that I absolutely need to go "above and beyond" everyone else and give it my all. And my upcoming time away from Toronto will help minimize distractions. I've been half-assing this thing every time I'm in Toronto with no justifiable excuse and this time I'm taking charge.
On the research front, stem cell research intrigues me more and more each day. Reverse consent in organ donation (opting-OUT instead of the current opting-IN) is one thing but why not just bypass the whole thing and grow whole new organs that are perfect matches? This is far into the future and probably not out of reach for my lifetime with the way things are going now. Since I already did research in cell biology and biochemistry, this has become a likely area of research I'll pursue in my master's.
Cancer research is looking promising too. The best tool we have is not the drugs and medication, it's our immune system. The recent new research of reprogramming "white blood cells" (to keep things simple) to recognize and specifially attack cancer cells looks promising... I hope human trials show the same success and if so, more women can breathe a sigh of relief.
(Yes, it was about breast cancer. When I said I was "running for your mum" during CIBC's Run for the Cure, and when I made sure no one got lost and cheered them on, I wasn't kidding. It's good to see the fundraising from such events producing results.)
On a side note, Scutaro is a base-running genius. What an awesome heads-up play from today's afternoon game. See here:
Stealing second base on a WALK. That's just embarrasing indeed, Phillies defense.
I'd put this on my Youtube channel but then the MLB would come and rip me a new one.
