Entourage Season 6 Episode 8: The Sorkin Notes
Oh man, the conflict between Andrew Klein, Ari Gold, and Marlo Klein was hilarious and was the main focus of the episode. The bit with Vince and Co. installing security was a little over the top but that photo of the stalker screams, "I'm a crazy creep!" It's good to see E taking a stand and realizing by himself that he has to stop screwing up relationships.
The song at the end credits is a nice change of pace from the rap songs in the past few episodes. It is Yeasayer - "Sunrise".
It all started with a stumble
And I get old and I get humble
The sky cracked a million ways
Making me blind
And as the trees grew higher and higher
And the fish began to fly
I went and stole some wings
And thought why can't I
Get in the sunrise
I want to get in the sunrise
Put the world upon your shoulder
I'll stay young while I watch everyone getting older
You can take a million years
Out of my head
But I'm starting to lose my place
In the circles that I trace
And if I let go only then
Will my face
Get in the sunrise
I want to get in the sunrise
Entourage Season 6 Episode 7: No More Drama
E starts his new job and has to deal with a douchebag rival manager, "Mr 24/7". "Uncomfortable" is an understatement; rather, Mr. 24/7 will make you want to give him a hard right hook.
Drama's storyline develops further with him revealing much of his character's shortcomings and him getting saved from getting killed off on his TV show.
Vince and Turtle freak out as some weirdo steals their underwear after a break & enter incident overnight. They first opt for some handguns but are way in over their heads when it comes to aiming and shooting them, which may be a subtle social commentary on gun access in the US.
Overall, the highlight of the show was Bob Saget and his ridiculous demands before he is willing to take on a manager.
The song at the end credits is N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton. Wish they'd make a song choice as good as The Verve's The Lucky Man in the season premiere. There's been too much hip-hop and rap lately and some variety would be nice.
Anyway, here is a Youtube video to the song:
Entourage Season 6 Episode 6: Murphy’s Lie
Again, short write-up cause it's a hellish busy week again for me.
Eric messes up a relationship again, as usual. Geez, the guy never learns. It seems to be a recurring theme this season: don't lie to your woman.
Just when I thought Drama was having another one of his paranoid fits, it turns out he was right on the money. Now, he's screwed. It's kill or be killed (by the writers), hahaha.
Vince's role has really taken a back seat these past few episodes. All he's done is screw girls. Uhh, grats? It does provide some funny moments.
The song at the end credits this time is: The Dutchess and the Duke - Reservoir Park
Free mp3 on this page here: http://www.spinner.ca/2008/07/20/the-dutchess-and-the-duke-reservoir-park-free-mp3-of-the-da/
Lyrics:
Well I barely woke this morning on the cold ground by the sea.
And I opened up my eyes and those black clouds are all I see.
And I wonder if someone's up there,
If the black clouds can see me,
And the clouds keep rolling on in
The supersonic jet plane taking people everywhere.
Well, i wish that i could go there, I wish I could be somewhere.
But i know I'm still right here,
And I know here is still nowhere,
And the clouds keep rolling on in.
Well tell me, what am I gonna do?
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
To make it clear.
So I can get my head straight,
I can see the sun.
Well I went down to have my fortune told.
Well I went to see the gypsy to have my fortune told.
She said "You ain't got no future, you ain't never growing old,"
And the clouds keep rolling on in.
Well, how many times have I defied the cold clutches of death?
And how many times have I stopped short from taking that last step?
And every time I've tried to hurt you, I have only hurt hurt myself,
And the clouds keep rolling on in.
Well tell me, what am I gonna do?
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
To make it clear,
Well I can't get my head straight,
I can't see the sun.
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
So I can see,
So i can be the same as everyone.
Well, I hear them whisper,
Pounding, pounding in my head until it all sounds the same.
If I don't see the sun soon then I know I'll go insane.
And if this is where I belong,
Well how long will I remain?
And the clouds keep rolling on in.
Well tell me, what am I gonna do?
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
To make it clear,
Well I can't get my head straight,
I can't see the sun.
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
So I can see,
So I can be the same, the same as everyone.
Tell me, what am I gonna do?
'Cause I can't see
And I can't be the same, the same as everyone.
Entourage Season 6 Episode 5: Fore!
E is so screwed calling her Sloan. Then roll credits with this song playing. Haha. I'd write something longer but I am too damn busy right now.
The song at the end is Cam'ron - What Means the World to You. Here's the video to it - would be a typical rap video with typical rap lyrics today but this song is "new old school" (2000):
Lyrics after pressing "continue reading":
Bill Clinton The Most Interesting Man in the World
Indeed, he would be a perfect fit now for those commercials. In the words of Jon Stewart of The Daily Show:
"The man hopped on a plane on Monday, flew to North Korea, freed a couple of ladies, got back in time to watch the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance? You know who he is! He is the most interesting man in the world."
So for those landing on my page because I coincidentally blogged about the Dos Equis guy and Bill Clinton, the source of the fad is August 5th's episode of The Daily Show.
You can see it here: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/240616/wed-august-5-2009-paul-giamatti - In the first 5 minutes of the show you will hear the reference followed by some awesome parody of CNN and Fox News coverage.
Entourage Season 6 Episode 4: Runnin’ on E
This episode was a little mediocre. It didn't have a lot of moments that made me laugh. There was a lot of plot progression and character development. But I think the problem with this episode is that it's hard for most people to get attached to the situations the characters found themselves in.
I don't know what the writers were doing with Drama's "predicament". So his conflict in this episode was that he couldn't find chemistry with a whole slew of models that he practiced making out with for a love interest role in his TV show? I don't know, but after a whole day of making out with hot girls, it's hard to be sympathetic to his complaints.
Yeah yeah, Turtle is dating Jamie Lynn-Sigler in the show and in real-life. But the scenes with them trying on clothes at the mall like a typical couple's day at the mall was boring to watch. Right now, their relationship is happy and without conflict or movement - which is boring to watch.
And yes, Ashley is right about what E has and it's hard to be sympathetic about E shutting down The Murphy Group after seeing a montage of him going through his "work" day (consisting of doing nothing but bang his girlfriend in the afternoon). So the audience is suppose to feel something about him giving up his business because he couldn't find things to do during the day? Why not - I don't know - leave the office and attract some clients?
Andrew Klein - a cheating husband who cries in his car and ultimately chooses to leave his family. Yeah. Nothing to like about this character at this point so I hope the writers are going somewhere with this.
Well, there were some good points in the episode with the guest appearance of David Schwimmer and him being pitched some god-awful ideas. And Jeremy Piven's Ari Gold once again stands out with his character acting as a mature and moral mentor. The combination of loyal family man and a successful yet ruthless business man is pulled off perfectly. Ari certainly has a way with his words, most notably in the scene in the car with a sobbing Andrew Klein, and I must say there is really nothing to dislike about Ari Gold right now.
I really do hope the writers are going somewhere good with these plot developments. Maybe Drama's new situation with Jamie can eventually lead to a triangle of sorts with Turtle cause that kissing scene may turn out to be such a hit on Drama's show that Sigler has to sign on as a regular (with regular "scenes" with Drama).
Anyway, the song at the end credits was Empire of the Sun - Standing on the Sun - the video is a bit odd:
Standing on the shore
Waiting for the ship in call
There's something in the way I move that keeps them on their own
The stars explodes a storm
A billion seasons born
A shock to the waves I know, breaking far from shore
Don't want to talk
All I hear is noise
Don't want to talk
The future's in my hands
I hold it in my palms
Engrave it the leylines running right down her arms
Speak in silent tongues
Lies reflect the times
The ghosts and the shadows fill the living scene
Don't want to talk
All I hear is noise
Don't want to talk
Entourage Season 6 Episode 3: One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car
Keep it coming! Keep it coming. I'm liking this season so far.
50 Cent makes a cameo appearance in the episode. Turtle decides to finally become his own man and stop mooching off Vince. And the scene of Ari meeting Turtle and teaching Turtle the life lesson of "paying your dues", getting an education, and working hard was Ari being his usual awesome self. Indeed, working through college and grad school is exactly what Turtle needs to do if he wants to step out of Vince's shadow.
Poor Charlie (Bow Wow) but that scene with Ari Gold telling E to play the race card was hilarious. With the recent incidents of Obama, Sharpton, Michael Vick and Michael Jackson, this show was making fun of that fact of how absurd it is to raise alarms about racism these days and how successfully playing the race card is becoming more recognized as a form of "reverse racism." (Though some argue that the coining of this new term is of itself racist.)
My favourite scene in this episode:
*E storms into the Amy Miller's office with "Suicide" by Ghost Rider playing in the background*
E: Just want you guys to know that what you are doing is disgusting. Charlie busted his ass for you and you guys are going to toss him off because what? 40 idiots from Modesto, who have nothing better to do today than to watch a pilot in order to get a free lunch, claim they didn't like him? I liked him! That's why I signed him! And you liked him! That's why you cast him! You were right; don't doubt yourself now! Charlie Williams is this network's next superstar.
Amy Miller: Do you really believe that?
E: Yeah, I do.
Amy Miller: Well I'm sorry, we don't. There is no way Charlie Williams is going to be acing in this show.
E: Well then, maybe you're a racist.
*Awkward silence and Miller's stunned face.*
*Cut to Ari Gold laughing hysterically on the phone with E.*
The whole time, E was clearly showing that he wasn't serious about his stance and I was laughing at how obvious he's BSing. But it was nice to see E make a stand for himself and his client. E is also stepping out of Vince's shadow and it's nice seeing his character break Hollywood conventions of the "successful businessman" (Kevin Connolly, who plays E, is 5'5").
And get out Ashley! Bring back Sloan!
The song at the end credits is relatively unknown, "Can't Keep no Good Boy Down" by Parlor Mob. The song at Turtle's birthday is "Everybody Loves Me" by One Republic, which is interesting to note because it's an unreleased song and they are releasing their second studio album soon.
The Song in Entourage Season 6 Episode 2: Buzzcocks – Why Can’t I Touch It
Ari Gold: Andrew, you have been given a once in lifetime opportunity to take your lifestyle and your career to the next level. You throw it away on some 22-year-old, you're going to be left with nothing but herpes.
Andrew Klein: She's 26.
Ari Gold: Oh, Jesus Christ! Get it together. Quickly.
*Ari leaves meeting room*
Ari Gold: Twenty pounds, Lloyd!

The song at the end credits is Buzzcocks - Why Can't I Touch It from their 1979 album, A Different Kind of Tension. I can't put the MP3 up or I'll risk getting in trouble (of the legal kind). So here's a Youtube video to it:
Well it seems so real I can see it
And it seems so real I can feel it
And it seems so real I can taste it
And it seems so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Then it looks so real I can see it
And it feels so real I can feel it
And it tastes so real I can taste it
And it sounds so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Then it looks so real I can feel it
And it feels so real I can taste it
And it tastes so real I can hear it
And it sounds so real I can see it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
Now it is so real I can see it
And it is so real I can feel it
And it is so real I can hear it
And it is so real I can be it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?
The Song in Entourage Season 6 Episode 1: The Verve – Lucky Man
If you are landing on my site because you are wondering what that song was in last night's Entourage episode at the end, the song is: "Lucky Man" by The Verve. Google thought I should be page 1 because I tweeted Entourage and the translation of YUI - Again coincidentally matched a notable phrase of the song ("I hope you understand").
An awesome start to the season, by the way. Ari Gold steals the show again and the boys are all busy doing their own things. Poor Vince. Haha.
Here is the Youtube video to the song:
And here are the lyrics:
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just where I am
But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?
But I'm a lucky man
With fire in my hands
Happiness
Something in my own place
I'm stood here naked
Smiling, I feel no disgrace
With who I am
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just who I am
But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?
I hope you understand
I hope you understand
Gotta love that'll never die
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Gotta love that'll never die
Gotta love that'll never die
No, no
I'm a lucky man
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Recent TV
House this week was amazing. Hugh Laurie really knows how to convey emotions. His facial expression a couple episodes back where he looked as if he had seen a ghost made me feel that same creepiness. And this week, his expression of shock and dismay at the end made me feel the same feeling of the walls crashing down. House's happiness denied. It's so depressing and the contrast between the two scenes at the end really showed how alone he is in all this. Hugh Laurie, I hope you get an Emmy for this. An actor who can make me feel what the character is feeling is good in my books.
24. Well. 24 and Kim Bauer. Yeah. It seems that no matter what, she always gets herself in trouble. I knew the moment she appeared on the show she'd do something stupid later. I think the whole "daughter in distress = Jack under duress" is a played out now. Try harder writers. And Chloe is supposed to be the master of all that is computers and she's outdone!? Haha.
How I Met Your Mother was hilarious. That whole bit of Stinson trying (and failing) to talk his way out of a speeding ticket was awesome and it tied well into the sweet metaphor of "The One" trying her fastest to get to Ted while Ted is told to not give up waiting on her.
Heroes Volume 4 was in a way further subdivided into two volumes. The first being written by incompetent writers who fail to keep characters consistent and the second written with Bryan Fuller, who worked on the awesomeness that is first season, at the helm. In a way, they killed off a main character or combined two into one. It's going to be weird and I'm interested in how this all plays out. Nonetheless, Heroes still has quite a mess to clean up. That Volume 5 preview was just blah.
Dollhouse is a show created by Joss Whedon and has a lot of Buffy alumni. I think this show has a lot of potential and it explores what identity really is. What makes us us. What is the soul? If that kind of technology exists, lengthy education would cease to have meaning. People/personalities can theoretically live forever on a hard drive. That latest episode really explores the idea of the soul and if it can really be separated from the body. Anyway, the show's fate lies in the hands of FOX and you know their track record with new shows. Look at what they did to Firefly. Sigh.
Grey's Anatomy. I'm sure a lot of girls (and sensitive guys) cried in that one.
Last show to finish its season is Smallville. After 8 seasons, yes, I am still watching it. Only to see how it ends. I must say that the whole Chloe Sullivan and Doomsday storyline is absurd. But the moral dilemma Clark faces now is essential for him to become Superman. And I think it's time for the cape and tights to finally come out next year. A ninth season! Haha.
Flashpoint is a show I recently got into and I like how it's not your typical cop/SWAT TV shows where you see cops breach entrances, spam flashbangs, and gun everything that moves down. This show is different and looks at what drives people to do what they do and how the job impacts the families of the unit. I like how it's shot in Toronto. Some locations I recognized are the TD building, Eaton Centre, Wonderland, City Hall, and the Royal York Hotel and it's great seeing Toronto's identity on TV. According to Wiki, they also shot in Riverdale CI and University of Toronto. Riverdale CI has some really nice hi-tech looking classrooms and it's huge according to the episode I saw.
I'm looking forward to Entourage over the summer. Mythbusters has been entertaining with its explosions as usual.
Looks like I have more free time this summer. Hmmm... add on another show or two? Or do other things... hmm...
